PYRENEAN EXPERIENCE

House Party Holidays in
the Spanish Pyrenees

For the past 12 years our 18th century farmhouse in the Spanish Pyrenees has opened its doors to people from all over the world.  Here we run a limited number of themed house-party holidays where walkers, Spanish language learners and cultural adventurers find a home-from-home; dinners on the terrace, a meeting of minds and wildly pretty walks straight from the door.

* Relaxed house-parties in a mountain paradise
* Pili's superb farmhouse cooking, unlimited wine
* Ideal for guests of all ages and solo travellers
* Stunningly renovated C18th mountain farmhouse
* Privileged contact with Ituren mountain community
* Local guides & teachers with 20 years' experience
* NO single supplements.

Where are we?
Our holidays take place in Ameztia, Ituren, a tiny village of mediaeval landscapes in Navarre, nestled in the Basque borderlands of the Spanish Pyrenees.  The tapas bars of San Sebastian, the fiestas of Pamplona and white sand beaches of the Atlantic are less than an hour away.

Who are we?
We are a very small family company based in a tiny mountain hamlet of 19 people and totally integrated into the Basque farming community and way of life.  This allows us to give a personal approach to every day we plan and every guest we meet.  Friends and neighbours often join our walks and house-parties - intrigued by the rare presence of foreign visitors to these parts!

Who are you?

Someone with a desire to get off the beaten track, with a love of rural landscapes and a genuine curiosity in people, culture and tradition.

Someone with an interest in any of the following:

* WALKING
* SPANISH LANGUAGE & CULTURE
* BASQUE TRADITIONS - Gastronomy, Carnival & fiesta
* BIRD WATCHING
* PHOTOGRAPHY
* TAILOR-MADE HOLIDAYS FOR INDIVIDUALS OR SMALL INTEREST GROUPS
* COTTAGE LETS

Our ethos is relaxed and informal, the house-party spirit is dynamic and fun ... (a glass of wine on the terrace, the sunset over the mountains)...but we are also a team of highly-focused professionals totally dedicated to all that we do. We see absolutely no reason why the two should not go hand-in-hand!

P.S. A note on International Recognition
In 2008, these valleys finally gained international recognition when a UNESCO-related project safeguarded our village carnivals in Ituren as part of Spain's intangible cultural heritage.  These carnivals - in which my neighbours and daughter take part - are an extremely moving and intense pagan event linked to the energies of the earth and among the oldest carnivals in Europe.  Change is inevitable in the area, not only through this new-found anthropological interest, but also as new generations of farmers slowly leave their lands.   One aim of our projects is also to help support the farming community in which we live and, among other things, many of our vegetables and much of our meat and cheese comes from a few metres down the track!
